Any update on the Smart Battery Case?

Loving my 12 Mini so far, but I'd like a battery case. I know Apple usually drops the smart battery cases a few months after the iPhone releases, but I've heard that they've been having issues developing one with MagSafe. Do you think that they'll release these cases/batteries closer to the iPhone 13, or am I just being impatient? I love everything about my 12 mini except for the battery life

Rumors are pointing to a battery pack with MagSafe this year rather than a case. If the rumors are true of an apple event in April it will probably be launched then.

So legit - what would be the advantage of a magnetic battery pack?

Only advantage I can think of is in situations that require charging in the rain where a wired connect would be bad.

Would you have to take your case off to use it?

Does it just act as its own case like the Smart Battery?

I just picture dropping a naked iPhone with a magnetic battery coming right off as it crashes onto a hard floor.

I'd probably buy one for my iPhone 12 Pro Max, at least if they have worked through some of the quality issues with the XS Max series.

But I haven't seen any news or even hints on the 12 series.

I hope whatever they design isn't overly thick. I don't feel like lugging something around that weighs a ton and takes up a ton of space, IE I want to be able to somewhat comfortably hold my phone still.

I'd expect an announcement at the next Apple event.

Public: "It would be great to just have an iPhone that's a littttle bit thicker with way more battery life."

Apple: "Let's make a magnetic battery pack to carry around that'll fly off your phone in the event of a drop instead!"

I'm considering going for the ZeroLemon case for my mini..have been using ZeroLemon's for all my phones till now..been great..

I've heard it'll be less an actual case and more a MagSafe powerbank that you can slap on the back of any iPhone 12 model.

Plus any future iPhones, potentially. They won't have to redesign them like they would a case. I mean Apple might mess it up in software to make you upgrade, but hopefully not!
